Big Brother & The Holding Company

Big Brother & The Holding Company an early ‘west coast’ psychedelic rock outfit, were formed in San Francisco in 1965. Big Brother were managed by Chet Helms who persuaded a young female vocalist from Texas called Janis Joplin to join the band

Their success is well documented including a stunning performance at The Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 which was to catapult Big Brother and Janice Joplin into the spotlight, with the band receiving the artistic acclaim they so rightly deserved.

We lost Janis in 1970 but The Big Brother & The Holding Co. legacy lives on.
