Black Oak Arkansas

Black Oak Arkansas were one of first pioneering Southern Rock Bands who appeared in the early 1970’s with one of the best front men of all time. Jim Dandy was the vocal and focal point for BOA with his ‘on stage’ antics and highly unusual voice he was an instant hit with audiences. The late vocalist Ruby Star was part of the band in the mid 1970’s complementing Dandy’s vocals with her own distinctive voice.

BOA were signed by the Atco Record Label in 1970 and the band have released in excess of twenty albums, not having had quite the commercial success as some of their contemporaries they have none the less a great track record with concert appearances and the ability to win over new fans. Jim Dandy still fronts the current version of Black Oak Arkansas to this day, they are still an important part of the Southern Rock movement. Classic songs include ‘Jim Dandy To The Rescue’ and ‘Hot & Nasty’.
