Hot Tuna

Hot Tuna were a ‘splinter group’ of Jefferson Airplane which was originally an acoustic blues jamming outlet for Airplane lead guitarist Yorma Kaukonen and bass player Jack Casady. In the early 1970’s Hot Tuna were to become a serious Blues/Rock outfit which enabled Yorma & Jack to extend their musical telepathy with improvisations and reworking of blues classics. They were augmented by violinist ‘Papa’ John Creach who also played with Jefferson Starship.

By the mid 1970’s Tuna were to develop a Heavy Rock sound with arrival of Bob Steeler on Drums. Their Albums Americas Choice in 1975 and Yellow Fever, which was also recorded in ‘75  were their heaviest offerings to date. Hot Tuna still play today on more of an acoustic level. Check out these great tracks ‘Ode To Billy Dean’, ‘Keep on Truckin’ and also ‘I See The Light’.

Musical camaraderie doesn’t come much better than this!
