A renowed artist from one of our all time favourite bands, the superb Jefferson Airplane.

Jack Casady was an integral member of the Airplane from the mid sixties until the early seventies. Also revered for his work with the underatted band Hot Tuna in which Casady collaberated with Jorma Kaukonen. Still rockin’ to this day and now with a new band Moonalice, Casady is a true stalwart of a great era in rock.

Congratulations on your birthday Jack and many more of them.

Here’s the classic Jefferson Airplane number White Rabbit….

January 30th 2009  is the birthday of one of the founding members of an iconic rock group.  Happy birthday to Marty Balin (Martyn Jelel Buchwald) born 1942.

One of the original members of Jefferson Airplane, Marty has one of the most unique voices in rock music and a prolific songwriter having been compared to Bob Dylan with some of the early songs he wrote for the Airplane.

We pay homage here on The Rock of Ages Radio Show to Marty Balin and others of his ilk who used their talents to bring peace and harmony to our troubled lives and bring awareness of the power of true musical inspiration  to create some of the very finest musical masterpieces of the 1960’s & 70’s.

Only the most influencial and ground breaking bands and performers are celebrated here on The Rock of Ages Radio Show with Lucas Campbell.

Check out this great video of Marty in action with Jefferson Airplane in 1966 performing his song “It’s No Secret” with Signe Toly Anderson….enjoy!
