The Doors

The Doors were to become the biggest band to come out of Los Angeles in the late 1960’s courting controversy in the form of rebellious front man Jim Morrison. The Doors were recommended to Electra Record Label boss by Love’s Arthur Lee and signed to the label in 1966. They recorded one of the finest debut albums of this early psychedelic period, produced by Paul Rothschild it remains one of the bands best works.

Ray Manzarek’s keyboard sound created a surreal almost eerie backdrop to Jim Morrison’s poetic lyrics, which had now had found the perfect musical vehicle to captivate and entrance the audience.

Jim Morrison was the shaman who was able to transport the listener into different realms, a gifted musical medium with a self destruct button activated too soon. Classic Albums Strange Days, Morrison Hotel & LA Woman. Rock In Peace James Douglas Morrison.
